Tuvalu Video

I was messing around with the reservoirs around Ladybower when I remembered I was supposed to be creating a video of Tuvalu.

Preparation

We're doing a 'site re-use' thing now where a new site gets the lowest unused Site ID. Site #3 is pretty low!

Tuvalu is site S000003

I'm pretty sure the site is clean. But I pressed the button anyway. There is no indication that anything is happening. I was tempted to press it again - but I resisted and checked the request directories instead. In fact, I had to check the request directory because there is no other way of seeing if the request has started. Or finished. Or failed!

Six minutes to clean and package the site - not bad!

I used OBS Studio to capture UE4 output. Because I can't decide whether or not I want to keep the un-editied video I'm never sure where to keep it. It's not an issue if I do all the work on one computer so all the OBS output went to C:\Users\dwh\Videos. This is probably ok.

I used OpenShot to edit the video. It's not perfect and has quite a few missing features and a vaguely irritating interface - but it is open-source and I do not have very demanding requirements. Again, I'm not sure if I want or need to save the project so I saved it as C:\Users\dwh\Documents\S000003_V003.osp and output the video to the same directory, i.e. C:\Users\dwh\Documents\S000003_V003.mp4.

The main problem with OpenShot is there is no easy way to tell which of the clips you have made available to the project are actually used by the project. This is the reason I am wary about permanently saving the project.

One manual way to identify all the used clips is to export the EDL (Edit Decision List) files and do some editing on those to get a list of unique files:

I right-clicked and exported these clips from OpenShot to \\S22\www\site20\Data001\Sites\S000003\upload. The file names had some sort of timecode added to them, so 01_tuvalu_satellite_popup.jpg was exported as 01_tuvalu_satellite_popup [0.00 - 3600.00].jpg. I zipped all these files and saved it as \\S22\www\site20\Data001\Sites\S000003\upload\S000003_F015_S01_V003.7z

The saved project and it's data comprises two files:

• \\S22\www\site20\Data001\Sites\S000003\workflow\S000003_F015_S01_V003.osp
• \\S22\www\site20\Data001\Sites\S000003\workflow\S000003_F015_S01_V003.7z

Again, I wasn't 100% sure what to do with this (apart from uploading it to LinkedIn) so I copied it to:
